Can anyone relate?
I have gone on silent meditation retreats and given myself a migraine, twice, trying to master the technique perfectly, I was so tense in my devout concentration that I was completely missing the point. I have been violently sick in ceremony to "cleanse" my mind and body. I have fasted on liquid concoctions to "clean" my body to the point of depletion. All of these acts I have pursued be try and become better, cleaner, clearer, and hopefully more spiritual. I think many of us try different diets, exercise, or remedies to try and be "better" or more of something that we feel we are not.
What if what you really need is more support, more balance, more kindness? and through these acts, we cultivate a more supportive and nourishing lifestyle that is perfect for our unique state of being?
These past few weeks, in Yoga for Menopause we have been looking at the Yogic philosophy of Ahimsa. Non-harming or Non-violence towards others but most importantly ourselves. We have been looking at some reasons that we might cause harm either consciously or subconsciously: fear, imbalances, and lack of support. It's been a lovely practice for me to remind myself that more often than not we do not need to self-improve, we need to self-nourish.

Yoga for menopause is back after the Easter break. This term we will be focusing on Ahimsa, one of the foundational principles of yoga, which teaches us to practice non-violence in all aspects of our lives and It begins with how we treat ourselves. Join me for a gentle and loving practice focusing on softening our inner critic, strengthening resilience and adapting to our everchanging emotional and physical landscape.
